Botany trips

I have not written in a while .... the last weekends we went out to the field with the guys from botany class.

Actually it has been a satisfying experience to go out on the field with them, and share my little knowledge.

Well, we traveled to Guajalito, a reserve located in the southern province of Pichincha. Guajalito comprises about 400 hectares of cloud forest. This ecosystem is perfect to studying plants and especially those that are closely related to water. As is the case of bryophytes (liverworts, hornworts and mosses)

The boys were very enterprising and their behavior was excellent, they listened to lectures that were given. Not only about plants but also about bats and mammals in general.

We walked in the wood to, and we saw ferns 15m high. The boys also learned basic things like pressing plants and collection of bats and insects. We show also some families, genera and species of plants. Actually the basics things that a botanist and biologist in training should know.

Every day the boys were preparing food for all, and i have to say, this moments are actually very pleasant because we learn to live with the rest of the teammates.

These have been the kind of activities that I have been doing. I hope that people who are not biologists in this class will learn something from our scientific life. I like talking about my career.

House music

A short summary of house music by Reinaldo
The house is a style of electronic music created in Chicago in the 80s. The term "house" was created because many DJ created this genre at home. This is an evolution of disco, it was taking territory over time. In the early 80s the house was targeted for Blacks and gays for his rhythmic style and in the 90s the house was already recognized worldwide and it mix with various genres like pop.
The house is a style of dance fast music, generally ranging between 118 and 135 bpm. The house can be combined with any style and you can use any sound. The common element of house is the use of a prominent kick drum on each beat. House sounds are characterized by  it  repeated and with it good sound. In the world of house there many  genres like:
Acid house
Deep house
Electro house
Euro house
Latin house
Minimal house/Microhouse
Progressive house
Tribal house
Tech house

These days there are a lot of house music but in my opinion the house is losing the sense and feeling. Every time it is easier to do this kind of music, as the house is set up with technology. Many people are dedicated to making this genre but few people do it with passion and style. The house is on the edge of success. This worries me that this genre will lose its originality. The progressive house and electro house are a good example of loss of identity.

Dogma’s film by Andrea Cardenas

It came in 95, that is the reason of the name:Dogma95, created by Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg both of Danish origin. The idea of this movement is to restore the purity of the films, leaving out several of the positions of contemporary cinema and especially the movies of Hollywood. The presentation of these films should be naturally, only care about the plot and character development, based on fully strict rules, also called "Vows of Chastity".

The vows of chastity are:

1. The filming must be done on location. You can decorate or create a "set". If an item or object is necessary for the development of the story, look for a location where objects are necessary.
2. Sound can’t be mixed separately from the images or vice versa (the music should not be used, unless this is recorded in the same place where the scene is being shot).
3. Be shot handheld. Any movement or immobility because the hand is permitted. (The film must not take place where the camera, filming must take place where the film takes place).
4. The film must be in color. Special or artificial light is not permitted (if not enough light to shoot a particular scene, it must be deleted or, in fact, you can plug a single focus to the camera).
5. Banning optical effects and filters.
6. The film can not have an action or surface development (can not have guns or crimes occur in the story).
7. Prohibits the temporal or spatial alignment. (This is to corroborate that the film takes place here and now).
8. Not accepted genre films.
9. The format of the film should be 35 mm.
10. The director must not appear in the credits.

From now on I promise as a director not exert any personal taste. I'm not an artist. From now on I promise not to create a "work", as I believe that the time and now are more important than the whole product. My absolute goal is to force the truth of my characters. I promise to do so at all costs within my means and at the expense of any aesthetic taste.

So far, there are about 170 films recognized as part of the Dogma 95, belonging to nations such as Italy, Spain, Hungary, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, among other countries. Dogma films, are characterized by a certificate awarded by the authenticity of the project and a registration number.

Refreshing music by Stephanie Saavedra

I love music , but the thing is that I haven’t found the truly  Music genre that could full feel my sense and my soul , I had proved many genres and I had liked a lot of them ,and hated some others but the things is that I wanted  something more , something special ,and I think I had found it . I heard this musician’s songs by accident and  I really like it ,it is refreshing and relaxed .May be some people would think that his music is really slow or boring but I think that it is cool because I see it as a truly reflex of his thoughts. The simply melody and the deep message of his lyrics make his artistic work something really easy to enjoy and  it is something you could  identify with.

And the name of this talented artist is Jack Johnson. He is an American folk rock singer-songwriter, surfer and musician known for his work in the soft rock and acoustic genres. He is also known for organizing an annual event, the Kōkua Festival. My favorite songs are  "Upside Down"; "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing"; "If I Had Eyes"; "You and Your Heart"; "Banana Pancakes" and "Better Together". I have to say that the song I like most is “You and your Heart”. As surfer he became really successful until he suffered an accident. Now he had a great live doing what he   enjoys  and with the people he loves .He is married with a colleague from his University and he has three  children.
His lyrics don’t refer just about love , but about sadness ,happiness  and life in all its full expression. There are few songs that could make someone smiles and more strange than that there are songs that can make you laugh , one of this songs is “At or with me “ ,you have to watch the video if you want to enjoy it at all.
Here is a part of one  my favorites songs  :

Love is the answer at least for most of the questions in my heart
Like why are we here? And where do we go? And how come it’s so hard?
It’s not always easy and sometimes life can be deceiving
I’ll tell you one thing, it’s always better when we’re together
